Alaska Airlinesis in the news once again for a recent incident concerning a commercial flight.
Alaska Airlines Flight 1437 landed safely at the gates at Portland International Airport last week after traveling from Los Cabos, Mexico, however, according to multiple sources, the aircraft’s cargo door was open with passengers’ pets inside upon arrival.
In an article published on Thursday, Portland’sKOIN 6stated that a source close to the situation said the airplane did not require an emergency landing, though it was unclear just how long the cargo door was ajar.

An airplane on its way to California made an emergency landing in Portland after a chunk of the aircraft’s cabin blew out mid-flight.
The plane, a 65 Boeing 737-9 aircraft, had just departed for Ontario, California, from Portland, Oregon, when it “experienced an incident,” according to anews releasefrom Alaska Airlines on Friday.
“A part of of the plane flew off not even 20 min into our flight??” one passenger wrote over a clip from the flight shared with the outlet.

With nothing else to do for the evening, Valerie Casler was hanging out near a grocery store in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sept. 19, 2019, when a man with a foreign accent pulled up in a black Ford Ranger and asked her if she wanted to go for a drive.
Casler, who was homeless and addicted to drugs at the time, climbed into the truck for what became an hours-long cruise through the city streets.

Photo: gettyAlcoholism, social isolation, and a lack of vitamin D are among a dozen health issues that can increase the risk of early-onset dementia, according to a new study.The UK Biobankstudy, published in JAMA Neurology with the American Medical Association, looked at over 356,000 people and analyzed 39 risk factors — genetic, demographic, lifestyle and environmental — that could possibly lead to early-onset dementia.Researchers with the University of Exeter, Maastricht University and other institutions found that 15 factors significantly increased the risk, including low socioeconomic status, alcohol use disorder, social isolation, vitamin D deficiency, hearing impairment, stroke, diabetes and depression.
