Two people were charged with murder in connection to the May 17 shooting death of a 69-year-old homeless man whom police described as a double amputee in Los Angeles.
“The murder of this victim – who was unhoused and a double amputee asleep in his wheelchair – is disturbingly brutal and callous,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “I thank members of my Community Violence Reduction Division for their work in this case.

A father of three along with a a dad of two are among those reported missing afterBaltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsedin the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Nonprofit organizationCASAreported that father of three Miguel Luna — who is from El Salvador, but has lived in Maryland for over 19 years — was among six people still missing andpresumed deadfrom the incident.
Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval, a father of two from Honduras, has also been missing since the bridge’s collapse, according toCNN, who stated the man’s brother had confirmed Sandoval was unaccounted for.

Tensions were high between two Mali basketball players after their loss at the Women’s World Cup Monday.
Teammates Salimatou Kourouma and Kamite Elisabeth Dabou got into a violent altercation following their team’s 81-68 loss to Serbia at the 2022 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney, Australia, theNew York Postreported.
In a now-viralvideothe pair were filmed throwing punches at each other while a reporter interviews Serbian player Sasa Cado. Other Malian players then rush to the situation to break up the fight before it escalates further.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge looked at the meat consumption of 2 million adults in what is believed to be the “largest meta-analysis on the topic.” Their findings were published inThe Lancet.
They studied the impacts on health of those who ate 100g a day of red meat, which they said “equates to a daily consumption of a small steak or a medium-sized hamburger patty” and 50g a day ofprocessed meat, which is “two or three slices of bacon or a medium-sized sausage.

As the former president finds himself the subject of numerous investigations and legal proceedings, a new poll suggests independent voters don’t wantDonald Trumpto run again in 2024.
Thepoll — from NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist— shows that 67% percent of independent voters don’t want Trump to run again, while 28% said they do.
The figures are not good news for 76-year-old Trump,who lost independents(along with the election) in 2020.
