A wildfire in central California’s Mariposa County, dubbed the “Oak Fire,” is still not contained.
The Guardianreported that more than 6,000 people have been evacuated, and more than 2,000 homes and businesses have had their power shut off.

Daniel Patterson, a spokesperson for the Sierra national forest, told the outlet that more than 400 firefighters have been fighting the fire, as well as helicopters, other aircraft and bulldozers.

A 22-year-old woman from California has died after an artificial Christmas tree caught fire while she visited her fiancé’s family for the holiday.
Per the outlet, investigators said an electrical short from an artificial Christmas tree caused the blaze inside the home, which did not have working smoke detectors.
Neighbor Brandy Byers told the outlet that she heard family members call out for Abdrazack after they escaped the burning home.

The following year, she was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. During her trial, she said that Howard had sexually abused her and trafficked her for sex from the time that she was just 13 years old.

A California man and his 10-year-old son were arrested over the weekend after authorities say the son fatally shot another 10-year-old boy with his father’s gun.
Arkete Davis, 53, and his son were detained in Sacramento on Saturday after the boy found a gun inside of his father’s vehicle and shot another boy with the weapon, according to theSacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
