The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office said in astatementshared on Thursday, Aug. 8 that DNA evidence collected at the time of 15-year-old Danielle “Danni” Houchins’ death and genetic genealogy testing identified Paul Hutchinson, 55, of Dillion, Mont., as a suspect.
On Sept. 21, 1996, Houchins left her Belgrade, Mont., home around 11 a.m. and never returned home, leading her family to file a missing person’s report with the local sheriff’s office, authorities said.

On Monday, Terry Jon Martin received time sentenced and one year of probation for the crime at the U.S. District Court in Duluth, Minn., after he entered a guilty plea in October, asThe New York Timesand theAssociated Pressreported. Martin, 76, was also ordered to pay roughly $23,000 to Minnesota’s Judy Garland Museum, where he stole the slippers from in an Aug. 27, 2005 heist.
TheAssociated Presspreviously reported on Jan. 22 that Martin’s defense attorney, Dane DeKrey, said that Martin decided to take part in the crime after an unidentified former mob associate encouraged him to commit “one last score” with the theft and told him the shoes were adorned with real jewels.

According to the county inmate records, Malinowski remains in jail as of Friday afternoon without the possibility of posting a bond. Hillsborough County records describe Malinowski as a “transient” individual whose occupation is listed as “TikTok Star.”
A spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department tells PEOPLE officers “met with Malinowski at Bayshore Linear Park and Dock” on Thursday over concerns he was trespassing in the park.
“Malinowski informed officers that he did not have an accessible marine sanitation device aboard his unregistered vessel and did not have a record of proper disposal of waste, creating a public health hazard,” Verliz Williams, a public information officer with the Tampa Police Department, says.
