An Alabama man and former college football player is recounting the harrowing kayaking trip that left him stranded at sea for 11 hours.
On Friday,former University of South Carolina quarterbackChris Smelley spoke to local Alabama Fox stationWBRCabout his fishing trip on Thursday that turned into a missing person case.
According to the affiliate station, Smelley, 37, took his kayak out off the coast of Grayton Beach, Fla., at about 8:30 a.

Inmate records show the former New York Giants running back, who won a Super Bowl ring with the team in 2008, is facing at least one felony charge. His bail is set at $250,000.
Police allege Ward robbed at least five businesses in Southern California, according toNBC News. The retired running back did not use a firearm during any of the robberies, police told the outlet.

Former professional surfer Chris Davidson died Sunday after he was punched outside a bar north of Sydney. He was 45.
Police said they responded to a report that a man was punched in the face and hit his head on the pavement outside Sportsman’s Way pub in New South Wales, Australia just after 11 p.m. Saturday, according toThe Guardian.
When police arrived, they found Davidson unconscious. He was treated at the scene before paramedics took him to Kempsey District Hospital, where he died, according toThe Guardianand theBBC.

Former White House press secretaryJen Psakihas officially embarked on a new career, sharing a photo of her new NBCUniversal work badge on Twitter.
Psaki, 43, announced she would beleaving her post at the White Housein May, with MSNBC later revealing that she would have her own streaming show on the network’s Peacock platform.
While her show is expected to launch in early 2023, MSNBC President Rashida Jones announced that the former press secretary will appear on NBC News and MSNBC sooner — this fall — during coverage of this year’s midterm elections.
